Deposits/Payments
To confirm your reservation, a 50% deposit is due on or before October 31st. If you change your mind after the deposit has been made, we will only return your deposit if we can sell your space. The final payment for your trip is due on or before April 15. If you fail to pay the final amount, the same policy will apply. If we can sell the space, we will return your payments less a $500 administration fee. However, should the space not be sold, your payments will be forfeited.
Please be advised that all trip fees, including deposits and payments, are non-refundable and cannot be carried forward or applied to future trips under any circumstances. This policy applies to all situations including, but not limited to: travel delays, missed flights, weather conditions, illness, or poor fishing conditions.
You may sell your week to someone else, or transfer the same originally booked dates to another individual. We can also try to re-sell the week for you but no refund would be made until a replacement guest has paid in full.
Cancellation/Delays to Goose Bay
As part of our policies, we would like to clarify the responsibility for costs incurred in the event of a missed float plane flight into camp.
Please be aware that if you miss your scheduled flight to our camp for any reason, you will be responsible for any costs incurred to reach the camp. This includes, but is not limited to: transportation expenses, additional flights needed, accommodations, meals, or any other necessary arrangements to reach the camp at a later time. We cannot hold or reschedule planes to wait for you if you are delayed as it affects the entirety of the group incoming and outgoing.
Weather Delays
With the unpredictable and challenging weather of Labrador can come weather delays. Unfortunately, these delays can happen and it’s very important to understand that we will do our very best to get you in and out of the Lodge on time, but we can’t guarantee or be responsible for it.
Our policy is as follows: If you get delayed in Goose Bay, any additional meals or accommodations will be at your own expense. Our representative will be in consistent contact with the lodge and plane operator and will keep you apprised of the conditions. Again, we will do our best to get you safely to the camp, but we will not be responsible for additional costs incurred or lost fishing time.
If you are at the camp and cannot get out, we will continue to provide food and accommodations. Because Labrador weather can change quickly, and because some of the fishing areas are a fair distance from the Lodge, any additional fishing will be at the sole discretion of the camp manager.
Accommodation requests
We are happy to consider rooming requests based on your preferences, however, please note that due to logistical considerations and the scheduling of changeovers between guests, we cannot guarantee specific rooming arrangements. While we will make every effort to meet your preferences, there may be instances where it is not feasible or practical to fulfill all requested accommodations.
The Fishing
Flowers River has some of the strongest runs of Atlantic salmon in Labrador and some of the largest, for sure. Having said that, it is important to understand that we, as lodge operators, cannot guarantee your success as an angler. As in the case of weather delays, Mother Nature is not always kind to us as anglers. The water can be too high or too low; too cold or too warm, or there can be ice on the coast or, or, or, ... The long and short of it is this; we will do our best to control all of the elements that are under our control but cannot control the salmon or the fishing conditions.
Travel Insurance
No matter how well we do, there are times when Mother Nature doesn't cooperate with us and we are faced with weather delays as mentioned. As per our policy above, we are not responsible for weather delays, sickness, or travel issues to/from camp, in Goose Bay, or on your way to Labrador and suggest that you purchase individual travel insurance to cover you in the event of any of these issues. As a lodge we do not refund or carry forward due to lost fishing time, we also cannot reimburse or cover any costs related to delays, etc.
Baggage
It is important to note that we have a very strict policy when it comes to baggage weight. This policy is in place because the charter aircraft used to fly in and out of camp is designed to carry a certain payload for maximum safety, and safety is our major concern. The maximum weight of baggage is 50 pounds per person and, unlike commercial airlines, this is NOT 50 pounds for a checked bag plus a carry-on – it’s fifty pounds, total, period.
We also recommend that you carry on as much of your fishing equipment as possible on your commercial flights to Goose Bay to limit the impact on your trip should your luggage be delayed in transit.
Should your luggage not arrive with you before you depart on the float plane from Goose Bay to the Lodge we cannot guarantee it will arrive while you are there. Occasionally we can arrange with another plane going in the area, but unless you are willing to pay for a charter flight to bring in your bag, we will only be able to send in your bag if there is room on another flight going.
Liquor Orders
The current system for liquor ordering is that you fill out the liquor order form with your credit card number and send it directly to us either through a secure Dropbox folder or by email to fishinglabrador@gmail.com. Orders should be placed a minimum of three weeks before you arrive in Goose Bay.
Please make sure when you are placing your order, that you check the availability at the Goose Bay location on their website. Their web address is: https://nlliquor.com/ then you look up products and can "check availability".
Once the order is placed, our driver will pick it up and it will be flown into the camp. Please also advise if you will NOT be ordering so that Donelda knows not to be looking for your order.
You need to note that if you would like to have a drink at the camp, or wine with your meals, you MUST place an order in advance.
There is no store or liquor available for purchase at Flowers River Lodge.
Liquor Consumption/Smoking
Though we understand having a social beverage can add enjoyment to your trip; your safety is our number one priority. It is illegal in Canada to have open liquor on a boat that does not contain a bathroom and kitchen (which ours do not) and if at any point our guides do not feel it is safe to have you on the water, they will be fully supported in not taking you out. Please consume responsibly.
There is also no smoking inside the camp. We do have a screened-in porch that you can smoke on but ask that you be considerate of other guests who do not smoke if they are enjoying time on the patio. We are a leave-no-trace camp - including cigarette butts. Please respect the beauty of your surroundings and use an ashtray or butt can in the boat or around camp.
Mix/Snacks
Mix/Drink orders (Soda, Juice, Pop, Sparkling water) and any snacks that you might want in addition to those supplied at the camp, should be ordered by completing and sending the Snack Form available later in your pre-trip prep files. Please keep in mind that Availability in Goose Bay may vary from where you are and that we may have to substitute in some cases. Our driver will be handling the pickup of these orders and will collect payment when you arrive in Goose Bay.
Food Allergies
Please ensure that if you have a food allergy, you make sure we are aware of the same at the time of booking. Everything at Flowers River needs to be flown in and as such, last-minute substitutions can be challenging.
Medical Conditions
If you have a medical condition that our staff needs to be aware of or be prepared for in any way, please let us know at the time of booking.
Fishing Licenses
Your license is included in the package that you purchased. To streamline the process of getting your license, we will use the information from your angler profile and do our best to have your license filled out before your arrival. If you have a license from an earlier Newfoundland trip this year, please indicate this on the Angler Profile so we don't get one ready for you.

Crooks Lake Lodge has some of the biggest and best Brook Trout in Labrador. We will not be responsible for any poor conditions in weather or fishing and will not give any accommodation for additional time, refunds, or compensation will be provided if you are not successful on your fishing trip.
Travel Insurance
As per our policy above, we are not responsible for weather delays, sickness, or travel issues to/from camp, in Goose Bay, or on your way to Labrador and suggest that you purchase individual travel insurance to cover you in the event of any of these issues. As a lodge we do not refund or carry forward due to lost fishing time, we also cannot reimburse or cover any costs related to delays, etc. We don’t say this to scare you, but because there are risks when it comes to a trip like this - we suggest you travel a “cancel for any reason” travel insurance.
